This role is essential to the success of the Service Center. The incumbent will plan and manage the acquisition of incoming material, both repair parts/kits and customer material, maintain and manage inventory levels, and plan and generate the monthl
Responsibilities
- Key Accountabilities
Maintain supplies of all required kits for the weekly/monthly production,
Maintain inventory at levels that maximize value and minimize the need for expediting orders in violation of lead time,
Effectively manage inventory and the KanBan system such that material outages do not occur,
Expedite emergency needs to support the production schedule,
Conduct regular cycle counts to a goal of 100% inventory accuracy,
Effectively transact warranty returns and rejected materials, with guidance from Q/A,
Assure that all system material transactions are timely and accurate, and include all materials used, including out-of scopes,
Generate and distribute the monthly production schedule, working closely with the Manufacturing Engineer to ensure that the schedules meets specified targets and customer requirements, and that all resources are available to achieve 100% schedule attainment,
Update the schedule and track weekly attainment, and identify and communicate areas that may need corrective action,
Participate in daily production meetings with the M/E to address and resolve any material issues that arise,
Fully support and participate in company and facility programs, including Safety, 5S, Kaizen, and others as required.
Requirements and Skills
- Key Skills/Experience
5 years experience in a material planning role or function in a manufacturing or service center/overhaul environment,
5 years experience with enterprise software (Oracle experience preferred),
Highly proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel,
Lean Manufacturing experience (particularly KanBan experience),
Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills,
Commuter Rail Industry experience a big plus.
